Ginga

Ginga was a queen of the Ndongo and Matamba kingdoms (Southeast Africa) the 17th century.

Gained notoriety during the war because she personally led her troops and commanded with more authority, forbade everybody to call her “Queen” and demanded to be treated as “King”. Outside the war context, Ginga dressed up in fine local fabrics, but also silk and velvet coming from Europe. She always wore a crown in her head together with other valuable jewels.
Ginga coffee has been close to the heart of Angola, since 2001, and aspires to win back the international prestige of the Angolan coffee for the country.
